The Tragedy of Being a Shelter Cat

There is nothing worse than seeing a beat down old cat who has been living in a shelter for years, just because he is older and not overly affectionate.

THE PROWLERTHE PROWLERThe tragedy of being a shelter cat.

If you are of faint of heart than leave right now. This post will be raw and might offend some people as just like this photo, I am going on the dark side of the Sarg today.

First off. If you nave never gone to a shelter, than you are part of the problem. You have no clue of just how tragic some of these stories are and most of you will never endure of have the guts to endure what some of these creatures have had to go through. If it were possible to ask one of  these creatures , and you asked one of them I don't know how you do it, the response would surly be, I WASN'T given a choice. Look I am not a fan of cats, and never really have been, but that's me. I do however hate to see a animal suffer but we as humans beings are pieces of crap. When I say this, I simply mean we created this problem by not having our pets fixed and we think nothing of dumping a small liter of kittens or puppies on the side of the road and letting them fend for themselves. It's tragic. Even if they are rescued, and taken to a shelter, its not a great life for them. If they are adopted it certainly can make a difference, but I can assure you that shelters are full and the problem is not getting any better. As stated I am not a fan of cats, but that is not to say I have no heart. Two years ago, when my wife and I were on our way to dinner, I spotted a very tinny black fur ball stuck in a muddy rut. The poor thing was wet, freezing, and covered in mud. When I pulled her little furry ass out of the rut, she was clearly scared, and seemed to be close to death. I tucked her under my coat, on my shoulder, and allowed her to warm up. My coat and shirt was filthy, and our dinner date out became an order to go. Two years later, I have a happy affectionate cat who drives me up the wall with her in and out of the house crap on a daily basis. I would however do it all over again, because this poor little thing did not deserve to get dropped on the side of the road by some asshole, who could not be bothered to have it's mother fixed. To whomever, screw you for being such a piece of crap. As cruel as it sounds, it would have been kinder to drown them at birth than allow them a few weeks of life only to dump them on a side road. You can disagree with me on that, but would you want to live a life like this. Hell no.

The subject of this post is now dead. She was a bit older, not overly friendly, but after living in a shelter for a few years, I can understand why a cat would not be overly excited. Her death was a blessing as her life was miserable. We can now go full circle and go back to the reasons why. Because we as human beings suck.

Have I am hammering on pet photography and bringing to light the severity of shelter animals? I have. It is something that concerns me, but I am also looking at society as a whole. We have a lot of problems here at home, and when you think about this, it's pretty clear to understand why we have problems like this. Everyone has different opinions on topics and the same can be said about solutions to these problems. One thing is for sure. There is no leadership or plans of action and it's my opinion that the unrest and all the current issues are only going to get worse.

During composition of this post, I wrote, rewrote, and removed so many of the passionate colorful metaphors that were original to this post. Although most mental health professionals state that a person who swears a great deal in communication are in reality extremely intelligent, many of my readers are older and I can assure you, that they don't care for my use of colorful wording to drive my point.

In short I am trying to be a little more, shall we say professional.

BE KIND MAN. Our house is a mess, and we really need to figure out why and what we are going to do to clean it up.

Thank you for the read,

Sarg
